There’s just so many to do in Farmville! It all involves plowing, planting, harvesting, fertilizing, and more. Newbie or not you may want to take a look at this guide and gain valuable tips while playing Farmville.
Plowing Your Fields
Before you plunge right into Farmville, the first thing you should do before you are able to make some money off your bare fields is to plow. You should also know that there are three different land types on your farm. They are:
- Available land – When you place your cursor over it, it will be marked by a bright green square)
- Fallow land – Fallow land appears to look rather “lacking” in nourishment and can be seen right after you have harvested crops off it. Plow it again before you can plant more crops)
- Plowed land – Plowed land looks like a healthy brown piece of land, ready for you to plant seeds and harvest!
See the image below to find all three land types.
After identifying the types of land in your farm, you can start plowing. See the little green plowing tool at the bottom right corner of your screen? Use that to plow and you’ll have plots of land ready to yield money making crops!
Planting Your Crops
After prepping your land, it’s time to plant some crops! First, make sure you have some plowed land around.
Select the plot of land you want to plant crops on, and you will be brought to the Market. This is where you will choose what to plant. So many choices, so little time! Make sure you choose wisely. Select one that yields the most coins. In this case, we shall choose to plant Poinsettias. They sell for 126 coins and compared to Artichokes (see bottom right corner of the seed selection), they only take 1 day before you can harvest them!
It pays to weigh the coins you gain versus the time you’ll take to harvest your crops. What we like to do is look ahead into our schedule and determine if we will be online to harvest the crops later on. If not, all you can “harvest” may be dead and withered crops!
And that’s it for planting. Isn’t it easy? Miraculously no watering is required! And now we wait for the crops to grow.
Harvesting Your Farm Yields
Notice that I did not say “crops”. There’s so much you can harvest from your farm but for now let’s look into harvesting crops we can find in our fields. Look at the image below. Mouse over your crops and if they say “Fully Grown – Click to harvest”, then use your cursor tool and click on them.
Harvesting…
Done! Rinse and repeat, and see the coins roll in!
However, harvesting crops is not the only way for you to gain coins. You can also harvest trees and animals and yes even green alien cows! Watch out for the little pink icon above animals you can harvest, i.e. wool from sheep, eggs from chicken and fruits from trees.
Fertilizing Your Crops
Now and again when you visit your Farmville neighbors, you will be asked to help Fertilize their crops. Before you ask “What? Help out at their farm AND fertilize their crops? What do I get out of this?” let us tell you that this is a win-win situation and you should definitely grab every opportunity you can to fertilize your neighbors’ crops. You will receive 4 coins and 1 XP whereas your neighbors will gain 1 XP and added coins after they harvest their fertilized crops.
After clicking ACCEPT and fertilizing their crops, you will be presented with an option to spread the word and publish a notice about what you did on Facebook.
Write a little note requesting neighbors to visit and fertilize your crops…
